SWMS and safety docs for plasterers

Do plasterers need a SWMS?

Often. High ceilings, stairwells and two storey work off a mobile scaffold or trestles can mean a fall of more than 2 metres, and cutting into walls and ceilings in older homes can disturb asbestos. Those jobs are high risk construction work and need a SWMS before they start.

What we would put in your Trade Pack

The Trade Pack is 5 SWMS covering the jobs you do most: $299 Ready to Go, or $795 Fully Custom, including GST. For plasterers, these five are a common starting point. Swap any of them for the work you do most.

  1. Mobile scaffold, trestles and ladders
  2. Stairwells and void areas
  3. Renovations in older homes that may contain asbestos
  4. Sanding and dust control
  5. Lifting and fixing sheets overhead

Other docs plasterers ask for

  • SOPs for set-out, setting and handover
  • An induction pack for apprentices and labourers
  • A staff handbook for a growing crew

Worth knowing

In Queensland, if a SWMS for work with a fall of more than 2 metres relies only on administrative controls or personal protective equipment, it has to describe every control measure that was considered.
